Continuing from my previous blog about strange "fests," I came across this fun article today talking about the "2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships." Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is real. And yes, there are real winners.Beginning in Germany in 1990, this competition takes place every 2 years. There are 17 official categories and David Traver (pictured above) from Alaska took first place this year. Following his lead, someone from good 'ole Los Angeles took 2nd place. Evidently, the Germans usually win this competition. It's good to know that at least Americans can win in a battle of beards, if not in competitions regarding ingenuity, science, math, or any other school subject. Go USA!
Enjoy.
